Scope:&nbsp;My work was part of a full-service strategy including a new brand, social media strategy and assets, photo and video capture, archive database infrastructure, and archive website. The ChallengeWe needed to design and build sustainable, user-friendly systems from the ground up for 1) storing archive data, 2) showcasing archive materials, and 3) allowing people to submit new archive materials.&nbsp; The archive must be accessible to an extremely diverse audience in terms of age, cultural background, and comfort with digital technology.&nbsp;Earning community leaders’ trust was required for authentic collaboration and project success.&nbsp; The Opportunity The East Palo Alto community has strong leadership, vision, and sense of self. A diverse group of volunteers from the community who are committed to the archive’s success had already been established.East Palo Alto’s unique and beautiful history quickly captured the hearts of our team!&nbsp; What the community needed was a partner who respected and valued the unique history and character of East Palo Alto to build the brand and technical foundation for an archive that will last for many generations. Many of these dispersed teams have developed their own visual style and launched their own sites and communications staff are underresourced across the organization. The Opportunity There is a lot of expertise inside the organization. If we were better connected we could learn a lot from each other and build upon the same projects.&nbsp;The small communications staff are passionate, skilled, and open-minded leaders. &nbsp; The Solution I created and managed my team’s first agile sprint process and product roadmap, cutting our new feature response time by 50%.Strategic sub-teams: I organized our team into content, design, and build sub-teams each with its respective leader. I led the design team and managed two contractors.&nbsp;Data-driven prioritization: I met with the team leads and the Director of Information Technology in order to prioritize our roadmap based on internal client demand and analytic data.&nbsp;Clear documentation: I kept our roadmap organized in Jira and Confluence, and shared it with both the team and the wider organization.&nbsp;Tracking progress with sprints: I managed weekly sprints to track progress towards our goals.&nbsp;Trust in our team greatly improved as we became more responsive to new feature requests. However, the learning materials were dense, and difficult to understand without context.&nbsp;Minimal tech infrastructure: The client had never created an application before and was unfamiliar with the process and did not have a product infrastructure in-house.
